Kit is Geaet but Unable to Loosen Base Ring to Replace the Parts

Vinegar aound the base for days makes no difference

Hi Nick. Sorry you're having problems getting the valve retaining cap loose, built up minerals from a leak can make that a difficult job. In addition to the vinegar soak, make sure that while you're trying to loosen the cap, you have a helper under the sink holding the valve body in place with a wrench so that it doesn't twist and cause further damage.

had a problem with the valve sticking, causing the spray wand to shower the counter. Improved after the repair but still stuck a couple of times.

When replacing the diverter assembly these are key steps: (1) Remove lime and calcium deposits before installing the new components. Use white vinegar or a commercially available product. (2) Be certain the components are assembledd in the proper order. (3) Use NSF-61 certified silicone (plumber's) grease to lubricate all O-rings, X-rings, threads and moving parts before reassembly.
